First Honyaki Nakiri, and it came out just gorgeous! Very good size and perfect profile for a Nakiri. The knife has zero flex, around 4mm at the heel, fantastic forged taper, hollow forged towards the middle of the knife, breaking into the lower bevel, perfect balance of release, with little feeling of wedging, knife is extremely thin at the edge, and steel is very hard, follows heat treatment for best hardness and edge holding with this steel will show great flex and toughness yet will chip on hard grit, bone rather than distort, so should be treated.... well as a true Honyaki ;)
Finish is a super practical true 400 grit finish polished out with Wa powder, making it so easy to maintain with wa powder on a tissue to remove patina and bring back the shine.....and the best contrast I think to make the hamon pop.
I can provide some Wa power to go with the knife.
