Stunning little Petty, completly forged from scratch from billet to profile and extreme geometry, only the narrow bevel is ground at the end!
This has just enough thickness on the spine into the heel to feel stiff yet forged super thin into the centre of the knife. Fantastic nimble little laser for detail work.
The cladding is mild steel, not as reasctive as iron at all infact it forms a very stable grey patina over time, about as user friendly as carbon gets.
The core is catchyblue, a 1.3% carbon tungsten steel with a touch of vanadium that retains an incrediably fine carbide distribution for a tungsten based steel. Used here at full hardness which would only really be practical in a close forged san Mai. 65hrc, Hard enough to use with no microbevel at all if you like, though this comes with a hand done stone finish and a tiny microbevel for durability out of the box.
This one has a stab Maple with amber horn and wenge ferrule.
