Forged in sc125, the cleanest carbon steel in the world. Very similar to white 1, a little less chippy at full hardness, incredible edge holding, whilst retailing sharpen ability, the feeling of the cut is buttery smooth as is the feel on the stones.
This knife is a has a killer forged taper, making it light and thin in the right places.
The hamon is gorgeous and cloudy with loads of activity, gorgeous banding showed up also on polish. The finish is all done with wa powder and shows a deliberate hazy grit in day light, all the activity shows up in the polish as you move it around. For me this is the perfect balance for beauty and ease of maintenance Finish can easily be maintained with a little dry wa powder on a piece of felt or kitchen paper. Fantastic little honyaki knife.
